Interesting coffee table book find " Persian Steel" the Tanavoli Collection, by author J.W.Allan

As it title says it is about Persian steel craft works, both historical and archaeological.

It seem to be a rare and valuable book. Found one for sale on Ebay and also on Amazon for 100 EUR. Wow! Got it for 2 EUR

My book has some condition issues...it has some substance on the back of dust jacket and some pages are glued together. I have feeling that it has been on some craftsman studio who has donated it.

"The Book of Gardens" The Ultimate Collection of Stylish Exteriors, A photographic Collection, Volume I by Siobhan Buchanan-Johnston

I enjoy books of interior design but also garden design and this one has beautiful photos of terraces and gardens. Mainly modern ones. Its price brand new 25 EUR, got it for 1 EUR

"Cities of Empire"
The British Colonies and the creation of the Urban World by Tristram Hunt.

Looking forward to reading this. It covers the British Empire days of Cape Town, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Calcutta, New Delhi, Boston etc. Browsing it through...there are maps, early lithographies and old photos.
As new it costed 35USD, I paid 2 EUR

"Historical Atlas of Expeditions " by Karen Farrington

Again interesting book about the explorations throughout history. This book captures the excitement, adventure, and the determination of expeditions from the earliest times until today through a lively informative text, detailed maps, photographs and illustrations.

I open book on random page, got page 78...Sir Hugh Clapperton and Richard Lander. Never heard of them...intrigued...quick read of first rows. Another 19th century explorer who met an early death, High Clapperton covered thousands of miles in a life that ended before he could celebrate his 40th birthday....

Yessss...I am starting to wait for a dark winter evening, cozying up with a drink and book.

This pottery bowl by Gonzalez Castellon is actually purchased from EBay. I loved it cubist style and bold red color.

It seem to be a Spanish pottery studio.

Yellow Fiesta ware bowl I found from same charity shop from where rest of this blog items were found. My honey hole.

Can it be from their "Colorama " range?

Looks like it:

and their history:

Thanks for these finds I will learn a lot and I love that.
