Three original art finds in one weekend. Stars aligned.

Image
I still in disbelief that I found three original art pieces last weekend. You can go to charity shops for months and all there is in art section are prints. Rest of the items in photo I picked up in different charity shops in the middle of this week.   Look at these! Jaguar painting is done with oil pastels and Tiger is a linocut print.  A lot of effort has been put to both of these and they have been mounted same way and also signed on the back. Handwriting is same on both. Although signature on on both of the artworks is under the sticky tape that holds mount in place...tried to remove it but it starts to rip into the paper of artwork. I think I only deciphered first name of the artist. Emily. Sadly I cant read out what the artist last name is.  But they are both so good! I am over the moon. This is ink and watercolor painting by Joe O'Reilly, depicting Ephesus Library in Turkey and signed 1998. I am almost 100% that its original. When to zoom into the picture...pixels are not c

Big thrifting haul from weekend "According to The Rolling Stones " book

I had so many cool finds this weekend that I need to divide this blog post to two. In addition what you see on this picture I also got 3 art pieces. I'll blog them separately. What got your attention when you looked at the photo. Red book? It got my attention all right. It is a large format hardcover book. Price brand new 30GBP. I got for 4 EUR. Weidenfeld & Nicolson Published. It has some stains on the side but I dont mind. It is the history of The Rolling Stones - according to the Rolling Stones themselves. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood have come together for this remarkable book. They have also opened up their personal and band archives to include many rare and intimate photographs that are interwoven with their great stories of forty years of making music together.  "All music is connected especially in a little place like England. Nothing comes from nothing at all" - Mick Jagger "Music is a language that doesn't speak in pa

Last weekend I was at Co.Cork when advert popped up on Facebook about Exhibition at Castlemartyr Resort. The artist represented there is a world class: Warhol, Banksy, Harring, Dali. Whole exhibition worth millions.  Salvador Dali "Dance of Time" was on sale 1.125000 EUR. Lina Macijauskiene " Girl " 2024

Image
I present to you: "Girl" 2024. Black ceramic and glazed by Lina Macijauskiene from Klaipeda, Lithuania. As soon as I saw it in Etsy, I loved it. I was keeping my eye on it and recently just could not help myself and bought it. The photo does not do it justice. It looks amazing in my living room in different daylight or even lamplight. Looking at it gives me great pleasure indeed. When I was a little girl...I loved chewing gum - once I tried to chew whole pack of chewing gum 😂 It was tough job...maybe my jaws hurt after. I am sure that I could not chew that for very long...  Here what she wrote about her "Girl":  This Girl is made of black clay. I used engobes to heal the pain, they were burned to 1050°C The girl has a glass bubble, which is firmly glued with epoxy glue Sculpture Height aprox 27 cm, width -8cm depth-7cm All creations are handmade by me, sculpted from ceramic or porcelaine clay, glazed and fired to 1050°C. I wondered what the engobe means...here wh

Star find: Norma Hanley hand painted plate

Image
When you look at the main photo of the blog with all my finds, what do you like the most? I like them all, because I picked them. If I need to choose a winner...that would be Norma Hanley hand painted tulips plate.    I learned something new with this charming find. It seem That Norma Hanley was porcelain painter mainly in 1960s and doing her craft in Dublin. I love this loose hand tulip decoration. Googleing shows you some more of her designs but I have to say, from what I've seen, my find is my favorite! I have to admit...I suffer from mild "tulipomania" - I paint them myself too. Second favorite from this haul is handmade brooch. This brooch is just so unique, giving you modernist brutalist vibes but as well ancient art vibe. It has mirror glass fused together like we see with stained glass. Try find another one like that. Nope. Not possible. Its not signed, so author remains a mystery. But I like to imagine how someone spent his crafty moments with this... Primark E
