Thrifting Charity shop haul

Here I have another days thrifting haul. When I visited that charity shop, there seemed to be a lot of people in, yet these items were sitting there, people passing by. I don't know if this means that I have completely different taste from other people or they are looking some more useful household items.  I am looking items of visual beauty and artistry.  The Blue Bowl by Hilary Jenkinson from Crannmor Pottery, Co.Wicklow I think I have seen her selling at annual Galway Potters Market. She's been doing pottery for decades. By having first workshop opening in Cong, Co.Mayo in 1994. Currently she is in Crannmore and this bowl comes from there. https://www.crannmorpottery.com/ I love the cobalt blue and black swirl combo. Little wave on the rim gives this bowl more interest. I gives me a bit of dramatic vibe. I bet anything would look fabulous served from it. Oranges, yes, oranges would create even more dramatic contrast.   Next up are these two fabulous Ballyelland ...

Epic charity shop pottery haul

I have a "honeyhole" charity shop. All these ceramics is from one go. Why I titled this post "epic"? Majorly because of the lamp but all items are fab! The lamp I was drawn to it as if it was a big magnet there on the table. It's abstract artsy look is amazing, it's colors and it is tall and big and a statement peace and with very good price. Yes please, thank you! I had a quick look in the shop, it is inscribed and additional sticker remain.  McCluskey Pottery. Artist Sean McCluskey, Limavady in Northern Ireland. Have to tell you I had not heard about him before. Sadly when looking him up, he seem to have passed 13.02.2011. But his works live on their lives. Can use your imagination what travels this lamp has seen since its birth. Looking around internet there is not a lot of his work around and I would say from the things I've seen so far...this is the Crown Jewel of his work. I am so pleased of this find and I plan to enjoy it myself for a while unti...

Galway Potters Market 2023

Galway Potters Market. It is usually held one summer weekend next to Spanish Arch in Galway. They are doing it annually since 2011. I've been trying to go each year I think since 2018.  Insta Galway Potters Market This year I rallied my friend to tag along. I think she liked it, at least I saw her smiling when looking at all the ceramics. Maybe I will convert her? In previous years I've always bought a Dee Quinn's piece. I have small collection already. Unfortunately she was not there this year. I will make a different blog post about her and the pieces I own. I recognized artists from previous years and I think 2 to 3 new artists I have not seen before. Of course I had to buy something.  I ended up buying Turnstone ceramics Robin and Clare Butler ceramics earrings. I had another favorite but it was out of my budget range. I have a very expensive taste.  After the indulging ourselves in ceramics we headed to have a stroll by the river. It is a nice walk across dif...

Splurged on Etsy buy from Iwo Rynkiewicz

Etsy. I think it is many art lovers shopping location. I really like to purchase directly from artist because I know that every sell makes a difference and lifts artist spirit. I myself sell there my art. For a while I had this sculpture on my favorites list. As you can see I bought it. It is titled " Hieronymus II " and I liked it from the first moment I saw it. It seem to me that the Kids series that Iwo sells on Etsy are more popular and don't get me wrong I love them as well. But this one I liked more. What appeals to me is mix of modern shop mannequin, Greek and Roman characters. Little bit futurism mixed in as well. And as picture show...I am pottery mad! I enjoy my Hieronymus very much indeed. Here is Iwo Rynkiewicz homepage . I have another sculpture to show by different artist but that would be another blog post soon. Iwo's signature. When I was unpacking it...he reminded me the fallen Statue of Liberty from sci-fi movies. And the thrill that went through m...

Charity shop haul

Here you see a picture of charity shop finds from my last hunting. It is a good representation of my taste. And I can't believe that I found all these from one shop.  Framed print.  I have no clue who the artist is. It is signed but I cant read out the name. I don't know...it appealed to me. I find it quirky and cool. Its large, so it makes a statement in the room.  The vase with flowers. Pottery, pottery, ceramics. My current obsession. I am so attracted to ceramic. Texture, glazes and a fact that it is handmade. The vase with flowers is by Suzanne May , Irish Dublin based ceramic artist. About her   Her workmanship quality equals with another great Irish potters like Louis Mulcahy and Colm DeRis. Although I love it, I listed it at my Ebay Shop as I collect money to buy myself a home.   Bowl   Bowl is not signed but I liked it rustic rough look and it gives me artsy vibes. I've been using it and find it good size for soup and I also had grapes ser...

Houston Llew

Houston Llew from charity shop Couple of weeks ago I went treasure hunting to charity shops on weekend as I often do. On the table there I noticed a book shaped object with attractive Tango dancers. I lifted it, it felt heavy and looking at it it seemed like decorative peace. It had nice quotes on each side. When looking it backside it said "glass on copper" among other information. Yes, please! As I love anything craft or art related I grabbed it fast. At home I had a closer look and Googled. I love when this happens...that the art world unfolds for you with something new that you did not know existed before. All because of a find from charity shop.  Here is link to his website: https://www.houstonllew.com/  Isn't these fabulous? Houston Llew is so talented and he deserves success. I have listed this Spiritle in my Ebay shop with reasonable price ( profit goes to my "buying my own home" fund). It has a lot of viewers and watchers and yesterday I got first bid...

Reg Mummery

" The Blue Girl " by Reg Mummery instantly caught my attention as this is so different from his usual work that Reg sells on EBay. The smoky eye look and colours are great. I was not able to catch colours into photo in it's full glory. I dont know about Reg as an artist but his usual work is British naive, kind of Lowry style. This one is different and I love it. I am so happy to own it. I only need to find frame for it. His works on Google Images
